🇨🇦 Canada
Canada co-hosts with two venues — BMO Field in Toronto and BC Place in Vancouver. This marks Canada's second World Cup co-host after 1987 U-20, but their first senior FIFA World Cup. Both cities offer vibrant fan atmospheres, with Toronto's passionate supporters and Vancouver's stunning coastal backdrop promising unforgettable matches.

🇲🇽 Mexico
Mexico hosts at the legendary Estadio Azteca — one of the most iconic venues in football history. Having previously hosted the 1970 and 1986 World Cups, Mexico brings unmatched football culture to the 2026 bid. The Azteca, nestled in the shadows of Mount Popocatépetl at an altitude of 2,285 meters, remains the only venue to have hosted three World Cups.

What's New in World Cup 2026
Expanded Format — 48 Teams
For the first time in history, the World Cup will feature 48 teams instead of 32. The tournament is divided into 8 groups of 6 teams (previously 8 groups of 4). The top 2 teams from each group plus the best 8 third-placed teams advance to the round of 32 — meaning six additional matches compared to previous tournaments. This format increase adds significant competitive depth and gives more nations a realistic shot at qualifying.
104 Matches Across Three Nations
The expanded format means 104 matches — up from the 64 matches in a 32-team tournament. An extra week was added to the schedule, extending the tournament from 32 days to 39 days. Matches are spread across three countries, meaning fans will experience the tournament across multiple time zones — from the East Coast to the West Coast of North America, plus Mexico City.
16 World-Class Stadiums
Sixteen stadiums across three nations have been selected, with capacities ranging from 25,000 at Allegiant Stadium (intentionally for broadcast-friendly acoustics) to 100,000 at AT&T Stadium — the largest venue on earth for any sport. The selection balances urban accessibility, stadium technology, and fan experience, with venues ranging from retro-modern Soldier Field in Chicago to the cutting-edge SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
